Enhanced wellness measures are in effect

We have implemented measures to protect everyone who enters our sites. These include a wellness checkpoint, mandatory masks, robust cleaning practices, and physical distancing measures. For your safety and ours, employees and volunteers at Canadian Blood Services are vaccinated against COVID-19. To help safeguard our environment, we strongly encourage donors entering our collections events to be fully vaccinated too.

  • Face Masks

Surgical face masks provided by Canadian Blood Services are mandatory while within our donor centres and mobile donation event venues. Learn more about our mandatory mask guidelines.

  • Snacks

We encourage you to eat something salty prior to your appointment and drink 500 mL of water. This helps your blood volume and improves your donation experience.

Pre-donation snacks and hydration are available to you upon arrival, however you will be asked to consume these outside our sites where you’re able to safely remove your mask and physically distance.

We will provide post-donation refreshments and you can consume them inside. Please follow our COVID-19 measures.

  • Screening

Before entering our sites, donors must review and answer our wellness questionnaire available at the front of the building. Donors will be greeted by an employee before entering to carefully evaluate whether they are feeling well enough to enter.

  • Hygiene

You will be asked to clean or sanitize your hands and maintain a two-metre distance from one another.
